POSITION: Assistant Band Instructor
REPORTS TO: Campus Principal, Director of Fine Arts & Superintendent/Designee
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 195-227 days with benefits provided.
EXEMPTION STATUS: Salaried – Exempt.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Facilitate the instrument-based performance groups and supplemental performers for afterschool, evening and weekend events. This would include, but not limited to, pep band, marching band, drum line, drill team, and color guard.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required
- Master’s degree from accredited university – Preferred
- Knowledge of overall operation of instrumental music programs
- Ability to manage budget and personnel
- Knowledge of state and UIL polices governing band
- Ability to implement policy and procedures
- Ability to interpret data
- Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Facilitate high school/middle school instrumental performers.
- Assists with band instruction district-wide on a daily basis
- Establish performance requirements, enforce academic requirements, and verify each student’s eligibility to participate in band
- Provide for band participation at extracurricular events, including but not limited to; concerts, sporting contests (football, basketball, volleyball), pep rallies, parades, and district functions.
- Recommend policies to improve program
OTHER:
- Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
- Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or designee.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
- Serve on committees as assigned by the Superintendent and/or designee.
- Comply with polices established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board policy. Comply with all district and campuses routines and regulations.
